BIO: Matthew Hernandez is a Los Angeles-based composer and orchestrator whose work bridges contemporary classical traditions with the emotional storytelling of video game music. He studied music composition at the Los Angeles College of Music under the mentorship of Dr. Daniel Walker and Dr. Yalil Guerra, both Ph.D.
Matthew's compositional voice is shaped by a diverse range of influences, from classical giants like Hindemith, Stravinsky, Ravel, Fauré, and Shostakovich to the evocative soundscapes of video games such as Monster Hunter and Final Fantasy. His music has been featured at international classical festivals, including the Mostly Modern Festival in the Netherlands and the Talis Music Festival and Academy in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Driven by a passion to move audiences emotionally, Matthew's work is characterized by memorable melodies, rich harmonies, imaginative orchestration, and intricate counterpoint. In addition to his concert music, his scores have been featured in student films, and he has collaborated with songwriters and producers to arrange strings across a variety of genres.
